Put together a basic tool kit that includes a stiff brush to clean off dirt and debris after a run, Blue Thread Lock, a set of quality Hex Drivers, a Box Wrench, Side Cutters, Needle Nosed and Flat Ended Pliers, Flat Blade and Cross Headed Screwdrivers, Thin and (if Possible) flexible Cyano (or Super Glue) for re gluing tyres, Diff Grease, Shock Oil, Bearing Oil and a Water Displacing Spray (Such as WD40 or GT85). Most Upgrades are a much higher price than their stock replacement Parts, but in terms of Performance, Looks or Durability, well worth the premium. Adding Bearings to replace Bushes reduces Friction. Replacing plastic components for Alloy versions increases Durability and reduces Flex. These Upgrades offer either a Performance Enhancement, Increased Durability or simply an Enhanced Aesthetic. Most manufacturers also make Option Parts or Upgrades. Stronger, Better, Faster But there are other options too. I did split a center driveshaft however.Maintain, Upgrade & Hop Up It's one thing owning and running the coolest RC Cars in the world, but eventually you will need to replace parts due to normal wear and tear, or a crash of some kind. I have yet to really break anything else, no A-arms. I have ruined many expensive wheels because it was the weak point. I can print 50 of them in couple hours for 1-2$ of material. They have been great, and have out lasted several sets of MIP and Chinese knock offs. Next, Tekno Steel drive shafts all the way around.

Its thick enough to give me nearly lock the front and rear diffs together, but has just enough "give" to cushion the drive train if I land a jump at full throttle. So I upgraded my spur gear to a center diff, packed with silicon ear plugs. If you run Badland tires, even more stress is applied to the drive train. I am of the belief that you should engineer your car so the weakest point, is the easiest/cheapest to replace. Now for the stuff I think is really important. The car runs great stock for back yard shenanigans. Now, if your just bashing and jumping, the above stuff isnt really needed. The better servos can take more punishment and it will be able to make better use of a better servo. Sticking with steering, if you beef up the servo, you have to beef up the servo saver. 12deg/sec, or the upgrade traxxas 2255 servo 14deg/sec is simply awful. 08deg/sec in speed, with torque higher then stock. But the morral of this story is, find something that is at least. I use them in my X-maxx, and some helicopters. If your willing to spend Traxxas upgrade money, then I HIGHLY recommend BlueBird USA Servos. I tried few different High torque servos trying to find something that meets or exceeds the Traxxas high end upgrade for much less $. I have been incredibly pleased with it and cannot recommend it enough. So we are always pushing hard and have abused our cars. I have had my slash for about 2.5-3 years now, and race against some friends in homemade tracks (see post history beginning of pandemic).
